Part II
Review Platforms Account for 1 in 5 Software Citations
AI leans heavily on niche review sites, “best X” listicles, and comparison pages. Review and comparison platforms — G2, Capterra, PCMag, Gartner, Software Finder — account for 21% of all citations behind AI’s software recommendations.
74%
of AI answers to software-buying questions cite at least one review platform
45%
of third-party citations (beyond the vendor’s own site) come from review sites
77%
of the review pages AI cited didn’t rank on Google’s first page
Being featured inside a roundup on a niche authority site carries far more weight in AI recommendations than having the best landing page on your own domain. A page can be nearly invisible in traditional search and still shape an AI recommendation.
You cannot wait for buyers to prompt your name. You must digitally co-occur wherever your primary competitor is mentioned.
